How much does a dental crown cost?
Cost of dental crowns
On average, patients pay $1,209¹
Dental crowns are custom-made to fit over your teeth and are reliable and durable, lasting up to 15 years. Alternatives like fillings usually last only 5-10 years. Invest in peace of mind with dental crowns for long-lasting savings.
Factors that affect the cost of a dental crown
Dental office location
Dental crown prices can vary depending on where your Forever Dental office is located. In urban areas, everything from rent to utilities costs more, and unfortunately, that can mean higher prices for dental services too. It’s a good idea to chat with your Forever Dental care team for a clearer picture of what to expect. Check with your office for more details.
Types of dental crowns
Dental crowns can be made with several different and effective materials. Common materials for crowns include:
Zirconia: Known for durability and aesthetic appeal. Zirconia is the most popular, and it’s recommeded 98% of the time by Forever Dental dentists. For more details, see the dental crowns page to learn more.
Porcelain: Porcelain crowns are valued for their natural look and are often used for front teeth.
Ceramic: Similar to porcelain, ceramic crowns are made entirely of ceramic materials. They are an aesthetic option for crowns.
Porcelain-fused-to-metal (PFM): These crowns combine the strength of metal with the aesthetic appeal of porcelain, providing a strong foundation and a natural-looking exterior for both front and back teeth.
Metal: Made from alloys like gold or platinum, metal crowns are durable and often used for molars due to their resistance to chewing forces.
Resin: Often used as a temporary solution while waiting for a permanent crown, resin crowns are more affordable but less durable, making them suitable for short-term use.
Each of these materials may have varying prices which will impact the overall cost of your dental crown.
Placement complexity/location
The placement complexity can vary depending on the condition of the underlying tooth, the need for additional treatments and the precision required for aesthetic considerations.
Additionally, the location of the dental crown, such as whether it is for a front tooth or a molar, can also impact costs due to differences in visibility, functional demands and the materials used.
Dental insurance and financing
Dental costs can feel overwhelming, whether you have dental insurance or not. At Forever Dental, we believe dental care should be both accessible and affordable for everyone. That’s why we aim to make things simple for you by partnering with most insurance providers and offering flexible dental financing options through third-party providers with 9 out of 10 patients receiving same-day approval. Please note, we do not accept Medicaid.
